Nova Doma is where Ukrainian folk meets jazz—a trio born from a powerful collaboration between singer, guitar and hurdy-gurdy player Iryna Muha, award-winning accordionist Volodymyr Vasylenko, and expressive drummer accomplished in jazz music Andrew Wood. Formed in 2023, the trio weaves a tapestry of sound that flows effortlessly between traditions and contemporary expression.Their live performances are a vibrant exchange of melody, rhythm, and emotion—music that tells stories of migration, memory, and human connection.
The trio was formed in 2023 when Iryna, originally from Ukraine and with a career spanning two decades in the UK world music scene, met Volodymyr, a virtuoso accordionist and graduate of the Kharkiv Conservatory who has sought refuge in the UK fleeing the war in Ukraine. They were soon joined by jazz drummer Andrew, a graduate of Leeds College of Music, whose international performances have ranged from intimate jazz clubs to the Royal Albert Hall.
In 2024 Nova Doma received development residency with Surge Forward and collaborated with Abbey Road Studios photography exhibition.
